In a candiesh-fairyland-like setting, Ajram manages to combine almost all of the negative messages that an Arab kid may never be exposed to during childhood. The messages are delivered loud and clear, sugar-coated with a smooth tune, and wrapped with sprinkling candies, fictional tempting characters & colorful cupcakes. Portraying female girls as cooks, mothers, nurses, ballet-dancers, fashion models, beauty-cosmetic addicts, gossipy tea-party girlfriends, and the worst of them all is the unforgivable image of “a bride”.

lets chat over tea.. gossiping are we?
I happened to come across a recent live TV interview, Nancy talked about this specific video clip that, at the time, was not released yet. She expressed excitement as well as a bit of pride in being able to perform new songs for kids. Something that she previously did in a past album called “Shakbat Shakabeet” years ago. Her new video-clip “Ya Banat” contains a very complex Arabic recipe of gender stereotyped social roles. The song is addressed to kids, as the whole CD “Super Nancy” is advertised for as a rhythmical record dedicated to children.
